Job description:

1. Teaching and Learning

  • Undertake such teaching duties as are required by, and agreed with, the HOC and the HOA, and to keep abreast of international developments within the academic discipline and/ or professional practice of the subject area.
  • Ensure that students are provided with a relevant and stimulating range of learning opportunities and experiences within the subject area, consistent with overall objectives.
  • Responsible for the design and delivery of own modules and assessment methods Set, mark, and assess work as per requirement and provide feedback to students.
  • Supervise student projects, students on field trips and, where appropriate, on placements.
  • Ensure that student progress is regularly monitored and that the results of monitoring are reported in a timely fashion to the respective programme coordinator.
  • Participate in NMUC’s staff development initiatives related to learning and teaching.
  • To participate in student support on academic, career and personal development matters.
  • Adhere to the Key Performance Indicator (KPI).
  • Undertake other relevant tasks/ duties/ responsibilities directed by the HOC or the HOA from time to time.

2. Research and Publication

  • Participate in research, scholarly activity and/ or innovation, subject to the approval of the HOA.
  • Engage with other researchers internally, nationally, and internationally, and to contribute to the research objectives of the department and Research Management and Innovation Centre (RMIC).
  • Participate in any interdepartmental project assign by the HOA or the HOC.

3. Curriculum Development

  • Contribute as a committee member to the development and improvement of academic processes and academic programmes.
  • ii. Responsible to assist during any accreditation by regulatory bodies and professional bodies.

4. Legal Compliance

  • Adhere to legislation of NMUC, regulatory bodies, and professional bodies.

5. Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Responsibilities

  • Support and participate in the University’s OSH initiatives and programs to enhance workplace safety culture and awareness.
  • Ensure that all academic, laboratory, and office areas meet required safety and environmental standards.
  • Foster a proactive safety culture within the department through engagement and participation of staff and students.
